An animated presentation that communicates the reality of Arctic climate change – emphasising its universal importance and acting as a warning of the consequences of our actions. It is a narrative of action and consequence: a cumulative effect of successive additions beginning to reach a cacophony.
The design concept aims to exhibit and emphasise this flowing process, creating a narrative of cause and effect. The central device used to illustrate this is water – central to the Arctic story. The multiple incarnations of water, with its ability to move and change as the result of external pressures and its endless change of state, will be illustrated using the flow of water. The technique uses inks to make water visible, and then through animation and photography, traces its movements to illustrate the key factors of Arctic climate change.
This presentation will be shown at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December. It will help raise the alarm for Arctic climate change, making clear the key details of climate change in the Arctic to a universal audience by emphasisng the importance of our actions and their consequences. It is a call to action – encouraging us all to do more to help combat climate change – to Vote Earth.
