I created this 4 poster campaign as a response to a brief set at University.
The idea of using 'slang' language as a form to create a dialogue between the poster and the teen works well within this campaign. Each slogan represents a negative aspects ie - Muffin top (used to suggest you have fat spreading over your trousers, skirt). I took the negative and replaced with a positive outlook - Love your curves ( the tear piece at the bottom is a small quote that the viewer of the poster can take away for reference)
I believe that improving someones self esteem begins with allowing them to love their differences whether that be weight, personality or IQ.
I chose to create simple line drawings and the bold colours as these are striking and illustrate the meaning of the 'slang' well and effectively without being to fussy.
I also create the display font - I decided to create each letter by drawing free hand within Illustrator which once again allows for slight variations and quirks within the type.
The end result was a four poster campaign with postcards, t shirts and a small booklet on 'I Love Being Me'.
I have had great response when I have displayed this work as it is interactive and has take a modern and positive approach to dealing with a sensitive subject.
