CEIDIOG
Brief:
Gorsaf Hud, or ‘Magic Station’, is an edutainment programme broadcast to pre-school children by S4C, Wales’ national television channel. To support the show, independent television production company, CEIDIOG commissioned us to design and develop an interactive and entertaining bilingual website.

This project presented some unique challenges for us to tackle. We needed to focus on:

• Delivering video content – As the site would be supporting a television programme, video footage would be central to a user’s experience.

• Enhancing the brand – With such strong recognition amongst its TV audience, Gorsaf Hud needed to give their online audience a complementary platform.

•Encouraging imagination – Whilst the TV show constructs the viewer’s experience with each episode’s narrative, the interactive nature of a website could allow each child to shape their own journey.

The Process
Throughout the project we worked closely with CEIDIOG, the independent television production company responsible for making Gorsaf Hud. To ensure continuity between web and TV, we asked them to produce new footage of the show’s two main characters. Filmed using the chroma key technique, or ‘greenscreening’, we converted the videos into the Flash FLV format ready to use online. In addition to designing the interface, we also developed the content management system (CMS) that would be used to publish content.

The result:

The finished site mixes high quality video footage with a vibrant design and includes features such as a photo gallery, games, activities, and blogs. Behind the scenes, a powerful publishing platform ensures that staff are able to author online content quickly and easily.
