Waterspace Ltd Brief:
To design a floating office which
a) provides product owners/tenants with flexible compact and attractive workspace on water
b) provides owners of waterspace (marinas, harbour authorities) with a way of increasing returns on under-used moorings
A purpose built vessel constructed in GRP composite approximately 8x4m which has the following features:
■entrance Porch with sliding glazed door and security shutter
■integral stairway to Upper Sun Deck
■Upper Deck area with guard rails & external light
■Work area with L-shaped desking and shelving unit across the beam
■Seating area with L-shaped seating
■pull-out berth in Seating area
■Kitchenette with over and under storage cupboards
A 'stand-alone' off-grid version for mooring away from power supplies and for remote locations and emergency shelter is also planned using solar cells and wind generator for charging onm board battery pack.
For drying out moorings a hydraulic self levelling device is also on the drawing board.
The result:
A cute compact and characterful vessel cum building work play relaxing pod which is versatile and flexible. Future plans include a flotilla kitted out as luxury hotel rooms (a floatel); tsunami relief and emergency hospital kit out (its transportable by Chinook).
The first prototype is being built in Penarth Marina and will be launched later this summer.
