The 'Coping with Eczema' booklet is designed as a ‘tool’ for parents; providing them with practical advice and treatment information to help them manage their child’s condition more positively.
Now in its 6th edition, it was time to revamp the booklet layout to bring it up to date and make it a more engaging read. Brightly coloured, fun yet informative illustrations were commissioned to highlight the guidance and advice in a friendly way that would be both appealing to parents and children.
We set upon an illustrative style that was playful and quirky yet still appropriate to convey the educational content throughout the booklet. Aware that cute pictures alone are not enough to ensure the success of the publication, we were keen to add plenty of design value to the layout as well...
Increasing the page count instantly gave the copy room to breathe, a simple rotation to a landscape format allowed our characters the space to interact with the copy, and colour coded sections brought clearer structure to the document.
The result:
The new Coolbox-created edition of 'Coping with Eczema' was successfully launched at the British Association of Dermatology conference in Glasgow.
10,000 booklets have been distributed to parents, pharmacists, healthcare professionals and also to Great Ormond Street Hospital...with demand for more already!
