The Best of Welsh Design Awards celebrate the wealth of talented designers and design-thinkers in the city and across Wales and helps ensure that their skills and passion are recognised. Judged by a panel of international design experts and previous winners, projects from any design discipline are eligible, raising their profile during the Festival and beyond.

Professional submissions were invited from design companies or individuals working in Wales or from Welsh based Clients.
Graduate submissions were invited from recent students from Wales or from Welsh based courses.Work completed for a paying client should be entered as professional.
Ideas
Work should be underpinned by original and inspiring ideas in response to the brief.
Execution
An elegant expression of that idea, with the appropriate production values. How has that idea been interpreted and realised? What judgement and choices have been made?
Context
Appropriate and relevant media, format, material, visual language for target audience.
Effectiveness
(Professional submissions) Has the work created the desired effect, fulfilled the anticipated end result and achieved its purpose? e.g. Increased sales, encouraged visitors, solved a problem.
JUDGING
Submissions are judged by recognised design industry experts and by previous design festival award winners.
Awards will be made for projects judged to be excellent from the submissions, and whilst categories are useful, there may be several awards in one category and none in others.
In addition to the award Winners were invited to select a teapot from a collection at the awards high tea party on Saturday.
