Tenovus website design

Brief

Tenovus provides invaluable services to cancer sufferers and their families, but was struggling to promote those services effectively online. Our challenge was to create a website which was more patient-focussed, and user-friendly. It also needed to allow the charity to engage with a wider audience, raise awareness of the remit of work and promote fundraising events and campaigns. The site also needed to help them increase donations. To achieve this, our goal was to design a site that needed to be vibrant and attractive, with a warm welcoming feel that encompassed the Tenovus brand. Recently we’ve also been commissioned to design and develop the “Remember Me” section of the website, which provides an online space for family and loved ones to remember someone they have lost to cancer.

Result

The site has been a huge success with lots of positive user feedback and visitors numbers increasing by over 30% since launch. It has also helped Tenovus to increase revenue with donations and online shop sales. We were pleased to receive an impressive score of 17/20 from ThirdSector magazine who reviewed its navigation, accessibility, innovation and content. Lisa Evans from Tenovus says “"Our new website is more interactive than the previous version and will bring our services directly to people living with cancer in a way that we haven't in the past. The website is easy to navigate and gives instant access to useful information which is vital when people are looking for support following a diagnosis." We’re also excited to have been asked to extend their online offering further by taking their Tenovus bus “Health Checker” facility online (this will be part of the current site).

Solution

The drive to improve the user experience is reflected in the site's illustrative style, which is welcoming and positive, drawing the user into the site. Bold use of colour and positive imagery are used to bring their message to life. The home page prioritises services for patients, not only giving Tenovus the opportunity to demonstrate the real value of the services they offer, but makes those services more accessible than ever before. The site provides a lively and engaging platform to promote fundraising events, ways to get involved, and showcase Tenovus’ vital work. More than simply integrating an online donations facility, we went one step further and created an online shop too. The “Remember Me” section of the website sensitively allows users to create a profile, add images, videos, light “tribute candles” and invite others to participate. This area will be launched in July.
