The Chocolate Brownie Co. Branding and Packaging

Brief

Spurred into action after years of family and friends telling her how great her chocolate brownies tasted, Vicky Critcher started The Chocolate Brownie Co. in 2010. Success rapidly followed when she won the national ‘local food hero’ competition. It was shortly after this that she approached sanders to help develop a corporate Identity and a range of product branding and packaging that would both reflect the character of the business and quality of the product.

Result

The identity created for the Chocolate Brownie Co. has an informality and approachability to it which reflects the personality of it’s founder. The packaging combines a conversational tone of voice and slightly quirky and eclectic typographic mix. Immediate listings with Asda at regional level and rapidly growing sales, not just through high quality independents and deli’s, but also a thriving B2B / catering market.

Solution

A somewhat unconventional colour palette of pale blue and cream was adopted for the primary packaging to create product standout at point of sale, then an additional palette of complimentary colours were proposed to denote product flavours. A simple, cost effective card sleeve was adopted for the packaging outer, designed to reveal enough of the product to reassure the consumer of its quality at point of purchase.
