Number Two Branding

Brief

bwa was approached by Number Two; a retail company specialising in stylish clothing, shoes, accessories and homewares, to rebrand the shop into three separate identities as well as developing an overarching logo. We were also asked to create an illustration style which communicated a local, friendly and organic feel to reflect the personality of the brand, in a style that could be used all year round and across all platforms from printed collateral and store signage to online.

Result

The range of brand collateral includes stationery, in-store materials such as gift vouchers, bags and posters, external signage; and an online presence (which included a website and an e-newsletter). As a result, the choice of a recycled paper stock accentuated the illustration, and enhanced the organic and natural feel of the new brand materials. Freya Fiddes, Co-owner Number Two said; "Bursting with great ideas, a professional and friendly service meant that bwa provided the perfect solution to our re-branding project".

Solution

bwa created three store identities; ‘number two style’, ‘number two collection’ and ‘number two home’ as well as the overarching logo. The underline on the logo was hand drawn to give an organic and natural feel congruent with the uniqueness of the company. The illustration style throughout was created using a dip pen and ink technique to reflect the personality of the brand. The colour grey was chosen for the main logo because of its neutralness which would work in any season/fashion. The colour scheme for the three shops were shades of green to blue reflecting its geographical context in the landscape surrounding Hay-on-Wye.
