Brief

Detail the activities of Lynne Featherstone, MP for Hornsey and Wood Green. Allow her constituents and the press to connect with her on a wide range of issues - local and national. Encourage and motivate supporters and provide transparency and accountability of both time and resources spent by Ms Featherstone on behalf of her constituents. Give the constituents an easy mechanism for contact and interaction with their MP and each other. Deliver within a small budget before the Election.

Result

The website is held by many as the best MP site in the UK today. Orange Digital Election Awards 2010 awarded the website top prize for 'Best use of digital campaigning by a candidate' - "On every level, Lynne Featherstone's campaign site excelled: design, engagement, relevance, information." Users and interaction increased. Driven by the website and social media by the Election LF had nearly 3000 Twitter followers and over 3000 Facebook friends. LF’s swing was 4% vs Labour (vs 1.25% in London)

Solution

Audit and reflect the personality of Ms Featherstone (LF). Evolve the Lib Dem ID to keep party unity. Create a visual that was fresh, dynamic and easy to maintain. Warm, engaging, open and modern. Extending LF and maintaining the job’s dignity and gravity of constituency issues. A robust OpenSource CMS. Custom code combined all social media LF daily, including Hansard/EDM, a first for a MP's website. An über user of social media, updating content in real time. Total accountability of her work.
