British Gas Journey Website

Brief

British Gas required a site to welcome new starters and introduce them to their new role before their start date. The site needed to be exciting and engaging, reassuring candidates that they had made the right career move. Problems: Disassociation from the business before start date Lost starters between acceptance and start date Lack of awareness about company benefits Goals: Ensure longer employment time with British Gas Reduced training time & costs Lower absence levels

Result

Training absences were 17% at £1400 each. Attendance rise to 100% & consistent. 83% of new starters feel recruitment process was excellent. All show a good understanding of their roles. Finalist at Design Week Awards. Recently beat Microsoft & IBM to the ‘Innovative use of Technology’ HR Excellence Awards. Described by judges as a site that ‘could change the way British Gas is viewed. Innovative & engaging with potential for worldwide application”. Currently being rolled out nationwide.

Solution

We created an exclusive online community for every prospective and current employee, encouraging participation, enthusiasm and confidence in their new role. Users login and are guided to a homepage with timer counting down to their first day. Users then style an avatar to lead them through a virtual village, where they discover more about their role and the company. website http://www.britishgasjourney.co.uk
