GCCSI Stereoscopic Branded Movie

Brief

Produce an animated video in Hi-Def stereoscopic 3D to be shown at a Ministerial event in London. The video should explain the process of carbon capture and storage in a simple and engaging way and be no longer than 5 minutes in length. There were 3 key challenges: keep all aspects of the video on brand at all times; utilise existing and stock footage that was not shot originally in stereoscopic 3D; ensure the 3D models replicated a physical model that was made alongside the video.

Result

The movie was a focal point of the event shown to key decision makers and government ministers and raised the profile of the GCCSI. The success of the movie resulted in the production of 800 copies on DVD supplied with 3D glasses. The client was delighted and has uploaded the video to the GCCSI website. Kevin Rudd,Australian Prime Minister: We are delighted to have partnered with a world-leading animation specialist to help us tell the carbon capture story in an engaging and imaginative way.

Solution

The 4:40 Hi-Def video used the subtleties of the GCCSI brand throughout and featured out-of-screen moments for a full 3D effect. Special attention was given to the cyan brand colour in order to work effectively in anaglyph 3D. A series of interface systems housed the ‘flat’ video footage in a 3D space. An Australian artist narrated the video and explain the process. The 3D model of the cube was a replica of the physical model created and exhibited at the same event for consistency of messaging.
