Change Your World 2010

Brief

The brief was to create an exhilarating micro site that would attract new, and invigorate existing, support for the charity and their annual ‘Change Your World’ campaign for 2010. Sustrans wanted the look and feel of the site to be bright, lively and upbeat, in keeping with the brand guidelines. The tone of voice was to be positive, friendly, persuasive, optimistic and confident. They also wanted us to use the same open source CMS system that we implemented on their main site, MODx.

Result

The charity’s target was to virtually travel 24,900 miles around the world once; the actual results totalled an outstanding 176,782 miles, equalling 7x around the world. Translated, this saved £25,856 on petrol and over 51 tonnes of CO2. “We are genuinely impressed with the dynamic site Precedent has created. The unique and engaging site has really captured the imagination of users and has played a major part in the success of this year's campaign. We would certainly work with Precedent again."

Solution

The key idea is that a small change can make a big difference in relation to sustainable transport. We designed a bright, vibrant community site which represents this idea encouraging users to get involved and pledge a journey. There is a Flash built timeline that sends users’ pledges via an XML feed, displaying where people are ‘in the world’ based upon when they pledged.The social media element gives users the option of sharing their personal pledge on Facebook or Twitter.
