Brief

Permanent TSB, one of Ireland's leading banks, were moving all their current accounts and credit cards over to the Visa platform, and used the opportunity to refresh the design of all their plastics. We were commissioned to design a suite of cards that had strong visual links within the set, but were also clearly differetiated and positioned to distinct market sectors, with the credit cards having a more premium appearance to reflect the additional features they offered.

Result

The new cards will launch in autumn 2010.

Solution

After researching international card design, and analysis of colour forecasts, we developed a design using a palette of soft colours that has more in common with fashion and textiles than traditional banking colours. We worked on card finish, exploring a pearlescent underprint to the neutral-coloured background to contrast with the flat tone of the motif. We managed the complex proofing and printing process with a UK printer on behalf of our Irish client.
