Brief

I am a surface pattern designer specialising in designing wallpaper collections for the interior market.

Result

I have taken inspiration from William Morris and Japanese art and explored how they have interpreted nature through their designs. I want to add a different feel to the representation of nature and I have achieved this through adopting a contemporary colour palette. These designs are explored through digital, screen printing and computerised stitch technology to create unique one-off wallpapers.

Solution

Nature fascinates me: the surroundings that we live in are so beautiful yet most of the time we don’t even notice what is around us. My work is based upon the patterns that nature enfolds and this current collection explores tree formations and the linear detail that is found within them. I have decided to focus on the tree growth patterns and leaf structures because every one is individual and special, different from the next.
